Why are young people important?Worlwide, young people face a number of critical, life-altering changes and decisions in the transition to adulthood-physical and emotional maturation, desicions about education and employment, increasing responsibility for oneself and one's family, determining whether and when to marry and find a family. These are all pressures for which they need skill's development. Moreover; young people at this stage of human development are more likely to be influenced by environmental and peer pressure and succumb to risk-taking behaviours with significant, long-term and negative health impacts. A vital responsibility for adults is to ensure that adolescents are euipped with necessary knowledge and skills to make sensible choices and adopt protective and responsible behaviours for rest of their lives. |
